Current methods used for hair removal include shaving, tweezing, waxing and depilatories. Some of these methods are painful or messy, and all are temporary. Tweezing and waxing actually encourages more hair growth by stimulating the blood supply of dormant hair follicle when an active hair tweezed out.
At the time of your consultation, an estimate for each treatment will be given to you for the desired area. To adequately remove the volume of hair growth, usually three to six treatments per area are required. Occasionally, additional treatments may be required in certain circumstances, particularly for those clients who have an underlying hormonal imbalance or people with darker skin . Should harmonal imbalance be an issue, your physician would need to treat these issues if that is necessary.
There may be a small amount of discomfort associated with the treatment. At the time of the consultation, a spot test can be performed, both to give the client an idea of what treatment feels like, and to make sure your skin can tolerates the treatment. The side effects to be anticipated is that the skin may be somewhat reddened for 24 to 48 hours, similar in appearance and sensation to a mild to moderate sunburn. An aloe lotion or hydrocortisone cream can be used to soothe the area, or simple cold packs are also effective. Typically, these side effects are transient and mild.
Electrolysis has been around for over 150 years, providing the first means of permanent hair removal. It is generally a longer process than laser and is the only method available for eliminating grey, white and red hair.
