Questions about Laser Hair Removal

Does laser hair removal work on all types of skin?
The Light Sheer is designed to work on all skin types.

Does the laser work on all hair colors?
In order for the laser to be successful in hair removal, there has to be color in the hair. At this point in time there is no laser that can successfully treat gray or white or true red hairs. On occasion fine and light hair with color may respond to treatment but a test spot is required so we can determine if treatment will work on those hairs.  White or red hair is treated with electrolysis.

What does it feel like?
Everyone’s description of laser treatment is a little different. There is minor discomfort to a treatment. A good description is a small pinch or the feeling of tweezing 2 or 3 hairs at once.

How many treatments will it take?
If you are looking to be hair free in an area it will take between 3 and 6 treatments. You will need at least 3 because there are 3 stages of hair growth on your body at all times. If you are just looking for a reduction in hDiana and Lauren working on a patientair 1-2 treatments will produce a significant reduction.

Is it permanent?
Yes, any hair that is treated will not return. You have hundreds of hair follicles on a square centimeter of your skin. That being said, there are many factors that affect hair growth with hormones being one of them. If you go through all of your treatments and you are hair free and then have a major change in hormones, i.e. pregnancy or menopause, some new hair may appear. These were dormant follicles that the laser never treated. The hair growth will not ever be what it was prior to treatment.

How much does it cost?
Pricing is based on area. You are welcome to come in for a free consultation and test spot. You will be provided with an official price quote. There is no obligation if you come in for a consultation.

What happens after treatment?
After the treatment you may be pink and bumpy in the area that was treated. The color is a response from the laser on the skin; the bumps are from the heat trying to escape from the hair follicle. This reaction is very normal and temporary. We will put aloe on the area to cool your skin. After any treatment you are able to go on with your daily schedule, laser hair removal will not interfere with your daily routine.  .  There is no “down time” so you can apply make-up right after treatment. Any bumps are from good treatment, technically is known as Perifollicular Edema (PFE), which is a temporary condition.

What else do I need to know?
• We ask that you are not actively tanning for 7-10 days before a treatment and 5 days after. If you are going to be out in the sun, cover the areas that will be treated.
• Tweezing is not a wise choice for hair removal, so please don’t do it.  It encourages more hair growth by stimulating the blood supply to that area and, in most cases, causes far more hair problems.  There are hundreds of dormant hair follicles that lie under the skin that are activated when stimulated by tweezing.  Also, the more you tweeze, the thicker and darker the hairs will get.
• The laser is perfectly safe. This is not like an x-ray where you need to be covered up.

Questions about Electrolysis

Does electrolysis work on all skin types?
Yes, skin color has no effect on electrolysis.

Does electrolysis work on all hair colors?
Yes, electrolysis works on all hair types but is the only permanent way to treat white, gray or true red hair.

What does electrolysis feel like?
Every reaction to electrolysis is a little different. There is a minor discomfort associated with the treatment; however because of the skill of our licensed Electrologist the discomfort is very minimal.

How many treatments will I need?
Because electrolysis treats each hair individually you will need multiple treatments. Please don’t let this discourage you. You will notice results from electrolysis and the results will be permanent.

Are the results permanent?
Yes electrolysis is FDA approved for permanency. And before laser, electrolysis was the only means of permanency.

How much does it cost?
Electrolysis is charged in 15 min increments. A 15 minute session is $30. Most sessions are 15 minutes depending
on the area.

How often do I come in?
For electrolysis you will come in once a month. Depending on the area that is being treated and the amount of hair you may come more often in the beginning so the area can be totally clean of hair.

What happens after treatment?
A typical reaction is for your skin to be a little pink with slightly raised bumps. Aloe will be placed on the skin to cool the area down. The reaction is very temporary lasting 15-30 minutes

Questions about Spider Vein Treatment

What does vein therapy feel like?
Everyone’s reaction to is a little different. There is discomfort to the vein therapy simply because the vein runs very close the top of the skin near your nerve endings. While there is discomfort, the treatment is very quick and the discomfort passes as soon as the pulse ends.

How many treatments will I need?
Many veins will disappear immediately during treatment. Multiple treatments may be required depending on the density of the spider veins.

How much does it cost?
Vein therapy is done in 15 minute intervals. Depending on the amount of spider veins both legs could be done in one session. Each 15 minute session is $200.00.

What happens after treatment?
After your veins are treated with the laser the area will appear pink and slightly raised a ghost line of where the vein was. Aloe will be applied to cool the skin. The reaction is normal and very temporary; the redness will subside in 15minutes to 24 hours.

Questions about Permanent Make-up

How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on the area. A price quote will be provided during a free no obligation consultation.

What happens after treatment?
After your treatments we will ask that you keep the area moist for a few days, this is typically achieved by putting vaseline or bacitrain on the area. You will be provided with post care instructions after treatment.
